New York Youth Jobs Program Tax Credits & Hiring Incentives

The New York Youth Jobs Program aims to provide young people with a strong foundation as they enter the workforce. Participants gain essential job skills to benefit them throughout their careers, while businesses can receive refundable tax credits of up to $7,500 per eligible hire. The program was reauthorized through 2027 and expanded to cover businesses located throughout the state.

Who is Eligible?

Businesses: Any business with a physical location in New York State that is in good legal standing.
Youth: Individuals aged 16–24 who reside in New York State.

How Does a Business Apply?

To participate, businesses must be certified for the New York Youth Jobs Program. Businesses must complete the online application for certification by November 30. Youth must apply by December 31.

Businesses that were certified in previous years can re-certify by updating their contact information and agreeing to the Terms of Service.

What Are the Potential Credit Amounts?

Full Time Employees – Max $7,500

$750 per month, maximum six months ($4,500 maximum); and
$1,500 if the youth is retained for six months beyond the first six months of employment (employed one full year); and
$1,500 if the youth is retained for a second full year of employment.

Part Time Employees – Max $3,750

$375 per month, maximum six months ($2,250 maximum); and
$750 if the youth is retained for six months beyond the first six months of employment (employed one full year); and
$750 if the youth is retained for a second full year of employment.
